Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Colorado
the people that live next to me claim they have pictures of my wife and I having sex, in our house, in our bedroom, and popping pills, and are telling people they are going to send them to the newspapers. I am a public official in my little town and feel violated and that they are trying to ruin my reputation. What can I do?

Assuming the pill-popping accusation is false, you could file a defamation lawsuit. Whether you should do so is a more difficult question. Such a lawsuit will be expensive to pursue and will further publicize the allegations.
As for the photos, it is unclear whether the neighbor is telling the truth or why having sex with your wife would be newsworthy. If photos of you in your bedroom do actually exist you will want to determine how they were obtained in order to determine what laws were broken and what criminal charges and civil claims might be pursued.
