If I chose to check the box on an application indicating I am an ethnicity other than I am, is that illegal? Example: If I check a box indicating I am caucasian, but I am not, is that illegal? Can I claim African American, Asian, other, Native American, Causaian at random?

Re: validity of ethnicity
It may be unlawful, depending on the purpose for which it is requested, to misrepresent your ethnicity. Why, however, would you want to? If discovered as untrue it would certainly hurt your application for whatever purpose it's submitted. In some circumstantces, you are not required to respond to a question of this type, and you can choose not to do so.
