is there a set time when the restraining order automatic drops? does a person retains his right to own a weapon such as a hunting rifle after the order drops or does he have to ask a court to reinstate his right?

Re: restraining order
A permanent restraining order may be dismissed by petition of the restrained party filed at least four years after the order was issued. Of course, there will be a hearing to determine whether the order should be dismissed or modified at all.
If the firearms provision was tied to the restraining order, it would lapse along with the other conditions if the order is dismissed.
Any conditions of a temporary restraining order will lapse if the order is not made permanent at the hearing.
The protected party may petition the court to modify or dismiss the restraining order, at any time.
