Legal Question in Construction Law in Colorado
Lien Law
I am filing a lien for the first time. Do I need to give a 10 day notice to both owners of a property, or just the one I contracted with and did the business with. I am a sole proprieter: should I put my name or the company's name as the lien holder; are their advantages to either.

Re: Lien Law
The notice must go to all owners and the general contractor if you are a subcontractor.
As to the name, that should be the business name used in the contract whether that is you personally or a DBA.
I would strongly advise that you contact a lawyer for your first filing. Mistakes are common and those mistakes may void your lien rights. The cost for a lawyer to advise you will be fairly minimal.
If a lawyer is not feasible, at least get the forms from Bradford publishing and get a good guidebook on the lien filing steps and issues.
