Legal Question in Construction Law in Colorado

Mechanics Lien law

Can I file a lien on a job that I completed and have billed the contractor for, but was not paid the full amount on. The charges are reasonable and customary for the work done. The Contractor feels since it was not done in a time frame desirable to her (several days of rain delayed) or certain things were not to her specification that she shouldnt have to pay the full amount. (However those details were to code the way they were completed) How much time do I have?

Re: Mechanics Lien law

You must serve the property owner and the contractor with a Notice of Intent to Lien within 4 months of completing your work. You then can record the lien in the County Clerk & Recorder's office 10 days after the notice is sent, but this should also be within the 4 month period.
