Legal Question in Consumer Law in Colorado
A company asked me to cash a check, keep a commission fee, and send them the balance check was found to be fraudelent. The bank cashed the check, opened an account for me, and gave me the cash. Am I legally obligated to return the cash

I am sorry. You are liable. You fell for a very common scam and they will most likely go after you for the amount due. If, by some miracle, this is a local company, go after them. I can bet that this was from another country, so it will be essentially impossible to go after them.
