Legal Question in Consumer Law in Colorado
Working with a Contractor
I am considering employing a contruction company to finish my basement. What is the best kind of legal contract that I can utilize to clearly outline work expectations, costs, etc.? My goal is to avoid any confusion from any verbal quotes/assurances.

Re: Working with a Contractor
your question is an excellent one. there are many standardized construction contracts available to you, but if you want to make sure all of your expectations are covered specifically, my recommendation to you would be: 1) to either draw the contract up yourself if you have construction experience, 2)have a lawyer review the construction contract the contractor may present you with prior to initiating the project, then making whatever changes you might want within its body, or 3) have an attorney draft a contract on your behalf, covering your specific expectations so that there are no ambiguous terms or errors in interpretation.
if you would like further assistance, an attorney to review the contract, or an attorney to draft a contract for your covering your expectations, feel free to contact my office directly to get your project started.
