Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Colorado

I was contacted by an out of state law firm about a payday loan that i didn't pay. The gentleman threw out all kinds of consequences if i didn't pay them over the phone. What can legally happen? He said its a class D felony and that my license will be suspended. is this true? I want to pay it but need to make payments.
