Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Colorado
Derogatory information placed on credit report
During a worker's compensation case, which I won, ''largest in recorded history'' the defendant somehow entered 'derogatory information' to our credit report.
I discovered this by accident through a local credit reporting agent, but was told that I may not have a copy of the report or the reporter and That what they did was a fraudulent act. You can only guess the problems this has caused us from that day forward.
I've asked, written, threatened but to this day still do not know what that info is or obtain a copy. do I have any legal action or not, I know why it was done, I won my case anyway.

Re: Derogatory information placed on credit report
Federal law requires that credit reporting agencies give you a copy of your credit report on request for a nominal fee. If you have been recently denied credit based on their report, they may not charge you for your copy. They are also required to allow you to place in your file any rebuttal or explanation of any information it contains that you disagree with.
These rights should enable you to protect yourself in the situation you describe.
