Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
I'm 20 and I was caught shoplifting from walmart. It's my first offense. No police were involved and he told me it was basically a slap on the wrist. What now? Should I be concerned that they could still contact police? I know ill have a fine to pay. I'm more concerned about my record and my husbands record since he's in the military? Should I be worried about my husband military career? Will he be punished for my stupid mistake?

You could still be contacted by the police, but in most situations the merchant would have already contacted the police. If you are contacted be polite, but only provide name, address, date of birth, ss#. With a first offense it would be likely to be able to keep a conviction off your record. I do not think it would affect your hubby unless it occured on base.
