Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
2 Felony charges, whats going to happen?
I have been charged with
1)criminal michief
2)first degree criminal trespass
It says F-4 by criminal michief, and F-5 by the trespass charge.
I was working in a new house that was being built
doing electrical, a door was found to be damaged
and I was the only one around, so Ive been charged.
I was the foreman on the job so I was suppose to be there, which kinda makes the tresspass charge wierd.
If I just plea guilty to this to avoid the hassle and expence of a lawyer and a trial,
what could happen to me?
Jail?
Probation?
I have nothing on my record from before,
just a disturbing the peace when I was a kid.
Thanks alot..

Re: 2 Felony charges, whats going to happen?
Most first-offenders are sentenced to probation for non-violent crimes.
It is the worst possible decision to plead guilty to any felony charge without the advice of an experienced criminal attorney. You have substantial rights at stake [convicted felons may not possess dangerous weapons]. Do not forfeit these without knowing exactly what you are doing.
Often times charges can be negotiated down to lower levels by a good lawyer. Check with one before deciding what to do in your case.
