Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
3rd Assault Child Abuse
Here is the situation. My wife had me charged with 3rd Assault/Child Abuse for slapping my daughter. I've only been in trouble one time before 4 years ago and it was dismissed (domestic violence) after completing court ordered counseling. What is going to happen to me?
thanks

Re: 3rd Assault Child Abuse
Well, did you slap her? Did you have a good reason? There is a defense to child abuse that relates to appropriate parenting similar to self defense in some ways. But, if you slapped her for no reason, then you do not get to use it.
There are classes. You may be offered a deferred again, but they may want a conviction. This could be a reason to affect your parenting rights.
