Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
12 yr old charged with 2 cts felony theft
I can't afford lawyer, I have a lot of medical bills, but I make too much money to get a free lawyer.
What will happen if I just let my son suffer the consequences of his actions?

Re: 12 yr old charged with 2 cts felony theft
Ask your question of the district attorney responsible for prosecuting your son's case, which would be handled in the juvenile court. Plea bargains are plentiful where a child is so young. The felony charges should be dropped in exchange for some educational or service consequence, especially if your child has never been in trouble before.
DA's are human and often have children of their own. Talk to the DA parent to parent. At the very least he or she should be able to offer a juvenile diversion program, which would keep your child out of the criminal justice system.
Good luck.
