Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
I have a 6 yr sentence and would like to do ask for a reduction of sentence. I was a direct sentence to comm correction and have been in non res for 1 yr 4 months and was in a halfway house for 3 months. I have never had a write up and am working full time and going to school full time along with completing all of my classes that they had me go to. Do I need a special form to ask for a reduction of sentence. This was my first felony and had never been arrested before or even rcvd a speeding tkt and received a max sentence. I have letters from employers and family and friends. Can you advise me what to do.

Get a FORM for a 35(b) motion from community corrections or your previous trial attorney. Your prior attorney may have filed a 35b motion immediately after sentencing. NOW, you may be time-barred from a sentence reconsideration by the court. You generally have only 120 days from sentencing to file such a motion. That changes depending upon the wording of the sentence. Call your old lawyer (or PuD).
