Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
Brief Background: I have never had direct contact with this person in question before tonight; I only know of him because he is the boyfriend of a female co-worker of mine. The co-worker is a friend of mine, and other than occasionally coming up in conversation, we have never talked about her boyfriend. My co-workers boyfriend is the person I feel verbally harassed me tonight, but I'm seeking legal advice before contacting law enforcement. For the sake of this discussion, lets just call him "bob"
Tonight I stopped by a 7-11 gas station and spent 15 minutes talking to a friend of mine who works there. I leave, and as I'm walking to my car, I see bob is waiting for me by my car. I dont pay any attention to him but he storms up to me and says "SO, I hear you got somethin' to say to me", I say "umm, no, I dont even really know you" and continue to unlock my car, open my door, and sit down in the drivers seat. While Im doing this, he keeps saying things like "are you sure you dont know who I am?". I respond by saying I know hes the boyfriend of my co-worker, and he says "ohh, so you're gonna leave her alone now right?". I tell him I dont understand what hes talking about. I havent done anything to my co-worker, we're friends but we have a professional relationship.
The main actions in question:
After the above events, I grab my car door and try to close it, but bob stands between the door and me, stopping me from closing my door so that I could leave. I continually to try and force the door closed to move him out of the way but he wont budge. He gets in my face and I tell him I will call the police if he doesnt let me leave. He asks me "do you really want the police here right now?" and I tell him "Yes". He finally lets me close my door, but before he does, he says in a threatening manner "I'll see you real soon"
Is this event grounds for a stalking/verbal harassment charge in the state of Colorado?

I don't think that all the elements are there for a DV harassment charge. Look into filing for a temporary protective order that Orders him to refrain from contacting you again. That should work.
