Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
i'm asking on behalf my girlfriend. she was cited for misdemeanor theft in Colorado Springs, her living situation fell through in said city and state and she moved in with me here in Utah (before her court date and I note: not to flee the charge, but because of her previous living situation). how should she handle this?
should she contact the local (Colorado Springs) court?
should she find an attorney in the aforementioned city to legally stand in her place should we not be able to make the road-trips for court?
can she argue and travel expense?
plead out and pay the wicked fine, take some probation and agree to never see Colorado again?

She has to travel to handle her court and she won't get reimbursed for her travel expenses. Perhaps her boyfriend can help her with the expenses. If she doesn't appear - in person - she will have a warrant issued for her arrest. If her sentence includes supervised probation, she will have to apply to have supervision transferred to Utah if she intends to live there.
It will be very helpful to have a lawyer in Colorado Springs sort this out.
