Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado

i was charged with 2 felonies and a misdomeaner and was recently let off of probation in november of 2009. when i was charged i accepted a plea bargin for deffered judgements and was lead to believe that once the deffered judgments were completed that they would be taken off my record. well they are still there and i need to know what i can do to have them removed. i was told two different things by the same court, one i was told i needed to file an appeal and that it would cost approximately 500 to 1500 dollars to have them removed, the second thing i was told was i would have to wait 10 years and then i could get a lawyer to have my record sealed. i feel i haveen lead astray in this matter and am stuck between a rock and a hard place. any help you have would be greatly appreciated. thank you, adam

One of the answers may be right, buy only if a string of other facts have also occurred. Most likely, if you sucessfully completed the probation, you may have successfully completed the terms of the Deferred Judgment and Sentence (except the passage-of-time provision). When you get it all done, motion the court to dismiss the case. Then, petition to seal. Not 10 years, not an appeal to the Court of Appeals.

Get you case # and all written documents from the case together, along with contact info for your PO. Then, hire someone who knows how to eval a DJS (only some attorneys), and get your MOTION, then your PETITION filed. Good luck.
