Your right to trial counsel extends through sentencing. You can also get state-paid apprllate counsel for an appeal "of right" (that's the first appeal only).

until you waive it, starting at filing of charges or custody, then thru all critical stages of your case, including appeal

Till death do you part. If you mean how long do you have a right to counsel appointed and paid for by the state because you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, that's through your first appeal.
