Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado

court files

I was told that court transcripts from a trial is public info. If so am I able to request that and with whom? My brother was convicted and wants my help but I first need all the facts from the case.

Re: court files

You may go to the County Courthouse where your brother's case was tried. You may then request to see the file. If it was sometime ago, it may take them a couple days to get it from storage. You may then ask them to make copies for you, which they will do for a fee. If you want transcipts of the proceedings, you can use the court documents to find out the name of the court reporter. You may then contact this person who, for a fee, will make you a copy of the transcripts (provided none of the hearings were done "under seal").

You will need to find out the division (the courtroom) in which he was convicted. Then request the division clerk give you the name of the court reporter.
