If your case is selected by the prosecution, you may qualify for a pre-plea investigation. Whatever remedy the state presents to you, it will almost always involve a guilty plea. The Court and the DA will not tell you about the other things that will happen to you. You will not be advised of these things until the moment AFTER you plead guilty. Quit your job. Move out of your house or leave the county entirely. Go to classes every week for the next year. They set the time, the place, and the cost you have to pay. This AFTER you are forced to quit your job. If you run out of money even after you are most of the way though classes, probation will be revoked and everything starts from the beginning. Again. Perhaps then you will be put in jail. Again. Only then will you qualify for a public defender. Get Counsel now. A Public Defender if you qualify, but you probably will not.
