Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
Criminal Charges
Can I be arrested in one county for felony charges and be charged in another county? I would think that this would be illegal.
I was arrested on drug charges in Denver and charged in Jefferson county. Can I ask for these charges to be sent back to Denver county, I think that I might have a better possibility of winning my case based on what I have heard.

Re: Criminal Charges
venue is appropriate where the crime took place or where any part of the crime took place. If the crime is alleged to take place in any part of Jeffco by anyone also charged, it will probably stay in Jeffco. You can be arrested on a state-wide warrant anywhere in the state and then sent to the county where the case is charged.

Re: Criminal Charges
Yes you can, the arrest warrant was most likely from Jeffco, so that is where you must go to court. This is contingent on the alledged act occuring in Jeffco. If it turns out the act took place in Denver, then Jeffco has no business handling this case. Good luck.
