Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado

My daughter was buying a car from her boyfriends mom. She gave her a down payment and had been making payments but now that they are breaking up the mother came and took the car since it is still in her name. Also stating that the payments made were for renting it. What can my daughter do?
