Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
Domestic Violence Charges
15 Years ago my wife accused me of Domestic Violence, I was never arrested however at the District Attonrney's recommendation I plead guilty to a lesser charge and had to complete counseling. There have been no instances since then and the record is supposed to be sealed in the courts. I am wondering if this will have a negative impact on my ability to become a peace officer?

Re: Domestic Violence Charges
Yes. You have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence. Under Federal law, it is a violation for anyone who has been so convicted to own, possess, or control a firearm. There is a way arouund that, with a little help. Getting around the federal firearms bar is something this firm does. Good luck.
