Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
Is dumpster-diving illegal
Is it illegal to take items out of someone else's trash, once it has been put out for the trash man? Does it matter if it is personal trash vs business trash?

Re: Is dumpster-diving illegal
It is permissible for the Government to search he trash as an individual does not have an expectaion of privacy in his trash that he puts by the road. If there are no trespassing signs then you can't go on the property to go diving. You run the risk of being charged with trespassing and theft. You do have defenses.
