Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado

Equities

When speaking about the prosecution of a criminal (or other) case, what does the reference to 'Eqities' refer to?

I suspect it to be a lawer short-hand for Equity Law but do not know.

Re: Equities

For a long time, there were two systems of redress for disputes: law (secular); equity (religious, kinda). You got yourself an attorney "at law" or "at equity". Now, law and equity are merged, equity was done away with, so attorneys "at law" are all that remain. (you see alot of "attorney at law" but no "attorney at equity").
