Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado

Explanations on law school applications

I have two misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and a citation from

a college for alcohol in my dorm room. How do I go about explaining these

discrepencies on my law school applications. Also, one of the possession

charges are from when I was a minor and it was handled through a non-judicial

recommendation- do I have to write that?

Re: Explanations on law school applications

A full explanation is far better than being caught for a less than full explanation. Remember, this is not only important for getting into law school, but when you apply for the bar. If you are caught for a mistatement in your law school application, you will likely still go to the law school, but the state bar may slow or stop your bar application. Hard to be a lawyer without being accepted to the bar. Lying is worse than smoking dope.

These were youthful indiscretions that you have reflected upon and taken steps to correct. You respect the courts and the law, even more so now.
