felon and guns

i have been charged with posessing a firearm by a previous offender. the gun is an old ball and powder rifle. does this still qualify as a weapon or an antique?

If you can light the powder and fire that old ball, it's a gun. It it's been neutered, it's an antique.

state or federal is the question - there are many other issues too - if it does not fire, you are better off - where was it found? the new DC vs. Heller case may change some laws, especially inside the home

Is it the state or federal charge? If it is capable of being fired, then I belive it does qualify as a weapon. Good luck.
