felony arrests

can a felony drug arrest be done by one officer only .does he need to have some sort of backup or some one to witness the actual arrest

I think you may be alluding to a question you have not asked. As to the one asked: yes. BUT: The cop is exposed to impeachment testimony because he had no other witness. So: the cop can make a solo arrest. The jury may doubt his story if no one backs it up.

Sounds like you're asking: "How many officers does it take to screw in a defendant?"

The answer is: none. You can arrest him; I can arrest him; anyone who sees a crime committed or in progress can make a citizen arrest. It doesn't take even one officer.

But yes, one officer working solo can make a felony drug arrest.
