Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
My friend was caught for shoplifting. He forgot to pay and was caught while leaving the store. He had no intent to steal. He was charged for theft and the value of the goods was less than 500USD. He has a clean record.
1. Will he go to jail?
2. What will happen to him?
He has received the summons and has a court date
He is a nice guy and ashamed of his fault.
Thanks

It is hard to say, it depends on the judge, the DA and your friend's personal and criminal history. Good luck
