Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
general criminal theft
i had a shopping cart full of grocerys, i was standing next to the door talking with some associates, i had just bought starbucks from inside the store which is right next to the people and doors, my friend went out before me, i completely spaced my cart and almost got out the first set of doors before some one arested us for theft. is this legal?

You have valid defenses. You would argue that you had no intent to take the items in the cart. The arrest is legal and you are presumed innocent until the prosecution proves beyond a reasonable doubt that you intended to take the items. I have handled similar situations with success.
