Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
A girl from my old high school is threatening to call the cops on me because one of her friends told her I "threatened to burn her house down." of course I never made that threat, but can this hold up in court? If she does call the police, what will happen?
1 Answer from Attorneys
It could.
Beware of the Pre-Text Phone Call. This is where the police have a victim or witness contact you and try to get you to make admissions, usually under the guise of just apologize and I will forgive. But actually, the police are recording and directing the person as to what to say. They are just trying to get you to talk.
I would not take the calls at all, but if you happen to, just quickly deny it and politely hang up.
Do not talk with police without a competent lawyer. No exceptions.
