Yes. A person with a valid medical marijuana license my have up to 6 plants (with no more than 3 flowering - producing buds) and up to 2 ounces of a usable form of marijuana. A person is not denied a medical marijuana card based on a prior criminal record. As a caveat, this is a very basic answer to a very complicated area of the law. I would certainly advise a person to consult with an attorney that is very familiar with this area of law prior to possession of marijuana plants, marijuana, or edibles.
