Incriminating testimony

Is it OK to take the 5th in a trial if that testimony will incriminate you in a crime?

Yes, that is exactly what the 5th is for. The DA may give you immunity, but you need to discuss with an attorney prior to accepting since there are different kinds of immunity. You might tell the attorney that is calling you as a witness that you will assert the 5th. They may be able to help you do this, get an attorney, etc.
