Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado

i was involved in a "incident"...i was at a house party that was taking place in a garage and i only knew one person there. the garage door was closed and i felt very trapped with 10 people whom were underage and drinking smoking pot (not myself) and i found myself pushed very hard by a young adult into heavy duty metal shelving then grabbed on the shoulder to start receiving punchs. i found myself instinctivly going for my knife knowing i was out matched my glasses were flung and surrounded by people wanting him to provide a show and i wasnt going to take a chance of running into the unknown house of the garage. so i had to do something and his grapple had me in a scared state and i cut his throat in the same motion cutting my cheek long and deep and i currently have a scar that wont go away. after i cut his throat i began getting punched by 2 other individuals until i found myself in a corner and fending people of with threats franticly scared saying "i want out" "open the door" repeatedly becuase of the blood pooring from myself and him(i had also got a deep laceration to the bone on my thumb) i was then grabbed by my one friend i knew there and directed through the house (face dripping with blood) to get out because they refused to open the garage door. we then ran to my truck and sped off, my friend driving because im blind at this point. it was not the resident of the house whom started the "incident" and i was told its a class 1 and 3 assault of which i was also told is a felony. please help
