Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
Juvenile Conviction
I was convicted of felony conspiracy to commit robbery in Colorado at the age of 16. I am wondering if this conviction will hinder me from obtaining a nursing license in Illinois or any other state. The conviction was fourteen years ago, I was sentenced to probation and community service. At the end of my probation (I was let off a year early) my PO said that the records would be sealed and that no one could look at them w/o a court order. Should I provide this information (the convicton) to the licensing board or not? Am I obligated to?

Re: Juvenile Conviction
The records are sealed so it should not be a problem. A criminal conviction, at any rate, is not automatically a bar to licensing. Find out from the Board itself.
Re: Juvenile Conviction
I would pull your criminal history to see what shows up. You will have to check with each state you apply with to determine if you must indicate the juvenile conviction. In most cases you do not as the record is sealed.
