Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
need a lawyer when with police?
Should you always have a lawyer (appointed, since I have no money) when you are being questioned by police.
This is in regards to theft of xanax pills.

Generally, as a suspect you should never talk with the police, with or without a lawyer.

Your right to have a lawyer appointed does not attach until there are charges. You should not talk to police without a lawyer. What to do if you are questioned and you don't yet have a free lawyer? Just say "No, I will not answer any questions at this time."
