Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
Living in car
My daughter's boyfriend is not allowed in our house. He has no permanent place to live and has been in and out of jail several times. We suspect he has been living in the trunk of her car...parked in front of our home. Do I have any right to have her car searched with a police officer present? Is he breaking any laws if he is living in the car in a residential neighborhood?

Re: Living in car
I know of no law that says a person must live in a house, or an apartment, or a cardboard box. Nor is there a law against being homeless.
You can search the car yourself, perhaps with a boyfriend-sniffing dog. You can carefully place your ear against the outside of the trunk, and see if you can hear him showering in the morning. But you cannot enlist a government agent to break into a car you don't own.
