Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
Does he have to make a statement?
Two brothers were indicted on federal drug charges. The younger brother's laywer is saying that he must write a statement against his older brother or he faces double time in prison. Is'nt there a law granting family members immunity from testfying or making legal statements against other family members, without fear of being punished by the court? If there is a law ot statute, what is it's name?

Re: Does he have to make a statement?
There is no privilege to not testify against a sibling, and the reason for the request may be to establish substantial cooperation under the Federal Sentencing guidelines.
