Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
Misdemeanor background checks
I was wondering if misdemeanors show up on background checks for new jobs. I'm looking for a new job and I have a few misdemeanors on my record. Does that matter? Also, If I pled guilty for the misdemeanor does it show as a conviction? I was never arrested for the misdemeanors, just given tickets which I paid. Any thoughts?

Re: Misdemeanor background checks
Beyond what attorney Fenaughty said, a guilty plea is indeed a conviction. A ticket, however, is a minor matter. You should not lose any sleep (or a job) over it.

Most background check services will report beth misdemeanors and felonies. Some also report traffic infractions and petty offenses.
