Getting money back from a lawyer

My mother hired a lawyer for my brother about 2 years ago, he has not done anything with the case & then handed the case to somebody else, who has also done nothing... he acts weird when we ask him for our money back, how do we go about getting it back?

Re: Getting money back from a lawyer

I'm tempted to say getting money back from a lawyer is like squeezing blood from a turnip. But if you have given a lawyer money, and he really hasn't earned it, you can either sue the lawyer or seek help from the Office of Attorney Regulation at the Colorado Supreme Court. Fee disputes are also often referred to the Colorado Bar Association for arbitration.

Good luck with the hard squeeze.

Follow the termination proceedure outlined in the contract that was signed when the attorney was hired. Once the attorney is fired, follow the proceedures outlined in the agreement for the return of monies. The grevience will not go forward if you still haven't fired the attorney or tried to get money back.
