Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
Outstanding Warrant from 2001
My husband has an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for sentencing in Denver, CO from 2001, when he was 16 years old. I cannot sponsor him to live in Canada because of this warrant. Convicted of trafficking. He is in Honduras (his native country) - he was deported from Canada over 2 years ago. Does he have to go present himself or can we pay a lawyer to represent him and see if he can pay a fine or something? He was convicted with trafficking but can he also be charged with evading a warrant? Do not want any more convictions as he is now an adult. Thank you in advance for your reply!!!

Re: Outstanding Warrant from 2001
Was this a felony or misdemeanor? Sounds like a felony. If so, he probably needs to appear. Most misdemeanor warrants will only last about 5 years and so it may be quashed.
More information would help.
But, you could also call Denver courts for information or go to the Denver Courts on-line records to learn more.
