Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado

Pedophile

My husband had an affair with an 18 y/o babysitter 2 years ago. This past summer, we had another babysitter (16y/o). At the end of the summer she told her dad who is a cop that she didn't want to babysit anymore-my husband made her feel uncomfortable and touched her inappropriately. She said that he asked her to have sex w/him and tried to kiss her. He denies everything, but admits to talking w/her about his affair, but with his previous track record, her parents don't believe him. Her mom has told our whole neighborhood about her daughter and also about the 1st babysitter. Only she is telling everyone that the babysitter was 17, making my husband out to be a pedophile. This seems like slander to me, but I don't know if there is anything that can be done about that. Also, the parents are having a ''meeting'' with all the people in the neighborhood (all of our friends) excluding us to discuss what they can do. Do they have any backing to do anything legal against him? If it comes down to a ''her word against his'', does he have any legal rights? I am in fear of his safety, along with our childrens'. The mom is very angry and has said if she could, she'd ''rip him apart for what he did''. Can they get him convicted as a pedophile

Re: Pedophile

If your reporting of the incidents is accurate, it seems at the minimum that your husband has a fondness for babysitters, and if this is all right with you, you may not need the services of a family lawyer.

He, on the other hand, may imminently need the services of a criminal lawyer. Chances are a district attorney who learns that your husband feels obliged to talk with a 16-year-old babysitter about the sex he enjoyed with the previous babysitter, whether 17 or 18, may well be persuaded to believe that he went further, and sexually assaulted the new sitter.

Good luck.

Re: Pedophile

Your husband needs an attorney like myself who is experienced in these kind of cases. If he is questioned by the police he needs to keep his mouth shut. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance. Good luck.

Re: Pedophile

In Colorado, these uncharged, unproven offenses can be used against you. The mere fact that he may be innocent will not prevent the community or prosecution from coming after him. He needs legal help.
