Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
Petty Theft
I wrote some bad checks 8 years ago but did not get arrested until 3 years ago. I had to plea to a petty theft charge being put on my record (under $500) and pay restitution to the party involved. Now I am trying to get a job and they won't hire me even though it is just a misdemenor, is there a way to get this off my record or will it ever go away and do I have to tell potential employers if it is only a misdemeanor for theft?

Re: Petty Theft
It will be on your record forever. If the plea was to a deferred, you may be able to "seal" it.
