Re: Plea Agreements
Discuss your concerns with the Public Defender. If you still feel he or she let you down in some way, talk with their supervisor. If you still feel that way, chances are very good that you expected too much.
The job of the public defender (or any criminal defense lawyer) is not to get you off from the charges against you, but to secure your rights, fair treatment, and due process such that the state must be able to prove every element of the offenses it charges.
Colorado has one of the best public defender systems in the world. By and large the men and women who form its lawyer corps are smart, dedicated champions for the accused.
So unless you are truly an innocent babe in the woods, and your lawyer was an ignorant sloth, it may be better to just suck it up and get on with your life, and while you're at it thank your champion for the resolution he or she did get you.
