Plea bargin for petty theft charge

I was issued a summons for theft less than 100.00 last week. I'm willing to plea bargin with the DA but I don't know what a good plea bargin offer would be. I have no criminal record and I'd like to avoid jail or parole. What would be a good plea bargin and do I need a lawyer to manage this for me or can I represnt myself? If i represent myself what tatics should I use?

Re: Plea bargin for petty theft charge

Based on these facts, I would expect to get a plea offer to a deferred prosecution if you pay for anything that was lost stolen or broken. A deferred prosecution is where the DA dismisses the charges and will not re-file them if you stay out of trouble and maybe do some community service.

An attorney can make sure that the evidence against you is admissible and that you get the deal that you want, plus an attorney is a little more threatening to a DA than a pro se client. Some DA's do not make decent offers to pro se defendants.

I would be happy to help you with this case, please call me at 720-406-6969.
