can you have a police officer take a lie dectector test to prove they are telling the truth?

Witnesses, whether they are for the defense or the prosecution, cannot be forced to take a polygraph test to support their testimony. Defendants, following a conviction for a sex offense, can be forced to submit to polygraph examination during treatment. Defendants are allowed to volunteer for polygraph examination, but they cannot be forced to submit to such.
