Polygraph / Legal help
Should I get a lawyer if I've been asked to take a polygraph even if I'm 100% innocent?

My advice to you is not to take a polygraph. Even if you pass, if the cops think you are guilty, they will still charge you. Also, they will use this as an opportunity to question you and it is far better to stay away from this situation and keep your mouth shut, as they will twist your words and use them against you. If you want to show your innocence and want to take a polygraph, I advise my clients to do this privately, and if the results are good for your case, I offer to share them with the DA. I have had a lot of experience in these matter and would be happy to talk to you. Good luck.

Do not take the polygraph. At best, it does not matter to police that there's a machine there. What matters is that you volunteered to be interrogated. The results of the exam may not be admissible, but your statements certainly are.
Re: Polygraph / Legal help
yes - the police use these things as interrogation tools and ways to get information that they do not have. You do not know their information. Maybe they have good info on several portions of the case (if innocent, then lies, but still strong enough to convict) and all they need is a small amt of info from you. You give it and then the trouble starts.
Cops only give polygraphs on serious cases. These include sex assaults and other felonies with mandatory jail time. There is no reason to chance it. Their goal is not to find you innocent or find the truth, but to put you in jail for a long time.
Get a lawyer NOW.
Re: Polygraph / Legal help
Even if you are 200% innocent, do not take a police polygraph. They are not trying to clear you; they are trying to trap you.
Get a lawyer. I've heard nothing but good things about the three lawyers here who've told you the same thing. If you are indigent, call a public defender.
Good luck.
