Picked up a new case , should i have an attorney with me when i see my p.O. For the first time

Well, the main thing is that anything you say to PO is admissible at trial. PO will likely ask you to discuss what happened etc. If you are comfortable refusing to answer any questions, then you do not need an attorney.
I would couch all responses to PO questions with "the police say . . . . "
this way you are telling the PO what the allegations are, but not your version or any fact from your point of view.

It can't hurt, but not necessary if all you tell the PO you picked up a case but don't go into the details. Most PO's require clients to report any law enforcement contacts, so you should not violate any terms of that condition. Good luck.
