Punishments

I was hoping someone could help in answering the following - My neice and I had a discussion as it pertains to punishments for being caught with an illegal substance. She seems to think that being caught in Colorado with less then an oz of weed that they will not ticket or arrest you. Could you tell me the normal punishment for that offense. Also, what would the punishment be for being caught with lets say 200 pills of extasy with the intent to sell. I guess your answers could be based on a first time offender

Your niece is wrong: they will arrest you if they catch you with even a smidgin of weed. The likely offer would be a deferred sentence in exchange for a plea of guilty to possession of paraphernalia.

The penalty for trying to sell drugs is much much worse. You'll likely be consigned to the seventh level of hell.

Next time you have a discussion with your niece, maybe you could talk about the amazing turn of events in the American Presidential contest. There's real ecstasy there.
