Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
I received an MIP in Colorado this past September. In December I plead no contest to the charges. I was given 24 hours of community service and alcohol classes. I moved home to Maryland last month, January. I have not completed any of my requirements. I plan on visiting Colorado soon and possibly moving there in the next year. How can I get my community service taken care of so that I am not arrested when I return? Can I do the classes and community service in Maryland and take the paperwork to Colorado?

It is best to do this BEFORE the due date (which probably has not yet passed). First find a community service agency used by the courts in Maryland. Find out what alcohol classes the courts there use. THEN, call the division of the court in which you pleaded. Tell the clerk that you are out of state, but seeking to comply with the Court's order, and that you will do community service through agency x and take the following classes: (insert the classes you find). The Court in Colorado will require that the community service agency and the alcohol class provider send them POCs (proof of completion). When you do that, the Court in Colorado should then terminate your probation as successfully completed. Then you are done. The alternative is to do nothing, let a warrant issue for your arrest here, and expect arrest and jail here when you return.
